Monday Meal: It’s a Grill!

It all started with some butternut squash and some zucchini.

Then Chef added some bell peppers, some mushrooms, and some duck.  (Hey, we had duck in our freezer from last hunting season.  You gotta use it somehow.)  It was all marinated in a mixture of orange juice, raspberry vinaigrette, hot sauce, pimientos, garlic, and ginger paste, and then thrown on the grill.

Other butternut squash was sliced.

Brushed with some olive oil and grilled, it was yummy.

Then came the potato pockets.  Potatoes, sweet potatoes, and onions wrapped in paper and then in foil.  (This is industrial foil, so if you use regular foil, you’ll probably want two layers.)

Wrapped up all pretty and put on the grill.  These were my favorite part of the meal.

Think pizza is only for the oven?  Not so!  This pizza, with barbecue sauce, tomatoes, and cheese, was grilled, too.

All this food came after a cutthroat game of Go Fish (which Elijah won)…

…and experimentation on all of us by DJ, who is doing his 6th grade science project on memory differences in males and females.  (Try to remember a very long number, details about a picture, and a very silly sentence.)

Excellent food, excellent fellowship.

Either these posts are a week later, or you have some sort of really cool time warp machine that lets you do mondays before the rest of us!

I was going to explain the fantastic time dilation field I use, but it’s really too complex for the layman to understand. So we’ll just go with your original theory. (:

Ooh, I love making potato pockets on the grill! I’ll have to try adding in sweet potatoes next time, yum.

Sounds like we missed a wonderful meal and fun time. Looking forward to tonight.
You didn’t say whether the duck recipe worked for you.
BTW, I like the Word Press reply feature in the comments section.
